Chicago, Illinois is a town with many things to see and do. You can go fishing on the lake, have a Chicago-style hot dog at a Cubs game, or even visit the lions at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Perhaps, its best recognized form of entertainment are the dozens of festivals held each year. The Chicago movers at Boyer-Rosene Moving & Storage have often had to take an alternate route due to a local street festival or event going on somewhere in the city.
If you are interested in moving here, you'll want to check out the seasonal calendar to start planning your activities. To get you started, we have selected a few of the best festivals happening in summer 2018.
Rock Out at the Blues Fest
The Chicago Blues Festival is held on June 8th to 10th this year. With free admission, it is a great way to spend your day and is a lively spot for the family. This is the largest blues festival in the country, and the largest music event in Chicago. See lots of different musicians on multiple stages throughout the day, from Mississippi Heat to Zora Young. There are also many vendors to enjoy, including a steamed dumpling and bao sandwich truck, a fried chicken and fish truck, and steak vendor.
Have Fun at MidSommarfest
Another option is MidSommarfest in Andersonville, which also runs from June 8th to 10th this year. This exciting street fest features plenty of music, local food, and vendors selling their wares up and down the sidewalk. Just be careful not to shop too much, or you may end up needing the services of our Chicago storage company for your extra belongings! You'll also find plenty of kids entertainment options, such as corn hole, giant Connect Four, and street magic. This event does have a suggested $10 donation at the front gate for visitors.
Get a Taste of Chicago
The Taste of Chicago is the biggest food festival in the city. It's a five-day event that runs from July 11th to the 15th in 2018. It is free admission, but you do have to pay the vendors for your treats. You'll certainly find plenty to enjoy from food trucks, caterers, and restaurateurs that descend on Grant Park from all over the city. Sample dishes from around the world, such as Thai, Jamaican, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, or a classic BBQ.
Explore Culture at the Ginza Holiday Festival
Speaking of other cultures, check out the Ginza Holiday Festival to take in Japanese food and entertainment. The festival will be held from August 10th through the 12th. Located at the Midwest Buddhist Temple on W. Menomonee St., this event is known for the heart-pounding thrill of Taiko drumming and tasty Teriyaki Chicken fresh from the grill.
